[You're a good friend, Ren. Whatever it was that caused Ryuji to indulge in a sudden bout of underage drinking is apparently not something he's willing to divulge just yet, and least of all over text. But he doesn't mind if he comes over...he just doesn't imagine he'll be much interesting company right now.

At least when he invites Ren out to train or (much more rarely) to cram study, they have something to actually do. Talking about feelings is a bit outside of Ryuji's wheelhouse.]

[Of course he hopes Ryuji will confide in him if he needs to. But there's no intention to press. If anything he just wants to make sure Ryuji is safe while doing it.

He knows Ryuji's tendency towards impulsive violence. He knows about... his family history. So just having another person there will ease his worries a lot. He does ask Mona to stay home though- the two butt heads too easily and he doesn't want to settle a fight.

Even though he's only stopped by Ryuji's place to pick him up a few times he remembers where it is, even if he's never been inside.]

I'm outside- your mom is still at work, right?

[It's kindof bizarre; they've been friends for this long, yet Ryuji hasn't invited Ren over before. If they're studying it's always out elsewhere, and training happens at school...there's probably been a reason for that, but maybe Ryuji's hangover brain isn't making decisions conducive to keeping it that way.

Or, maybe he just doesn't care right now.

Either way, the door will open to a somewhat discheveled looking Ryuji, his hair even more wild than usual as he holds a hand at the back of his neck.]

[Ryuji sort of just makes a face at that before shaking his head.]

Not really since...sometime yesterday, I think. Didn't think I could stomach it for a while.

Yeah, you're probably right...I think mom was going to try to bring something home tonight, but she ain't gonna be home for a while. I might have something stashed up in my room.

[Something not healthy and probably questionable if it's been "stashed" in his room for a while, but at least knowing Ryuji it's probably something like...a protein bar.]

Nah. She'd probably thank you, honestly. We usually just go for takeout.

[Ryuji isn't like...a cook or anything by any stretch, but he feels a little lame having Ren just come over and cook for him for nothing, even if he's the type of guy who would just Do that.]
