[Compared to other days, today felt pretty light on criminal activity. The only real concern he got this whole snow-covered day involved reports of some vandalism. When offered to patrol for the vandal, Fatgum wouldn't turn his back on the chance to help out and offer some experience to one of the students under his tutelage, Kirishima.

All those students working under his wing were precious, no matter how long he knew them. He wouldn't recklessly endanger themselves for one of their earlier heroing sessions. He was sure Kirishima could handle whatever might happen (that is if anything happened anyway).

But! It didn't hurt to come prepared. Which is why his hoodie concealed a bunch of Kit Kat bars of all different flavors. When Kirishima arrived, he'd have a strawberry-flavored one ready for offering.]

Good to see one of my favorite interns! Maybe you want to fill up before we start patrolling?

[Kirishima had known that things would be tough once he started undertaking real internship work, but that's what he wanted. What he felt like he needed if he were to become a true hero. His first real test in the field just...turned out to be a lot more than he'd been entirely prepared for, at the time. He's glad for it in hindsight because it taught him greatly...but he's also glad to hear that today is just for some patrolling, which at this point feels like a cakewalk in comparison to everything else.

He flashes a toothy grin to Fatgum and meets him halfway, taking the sweet in hand with a chuckle.]

Thanks, sensei! You know I'm ready to come help out anytime.

[He uses the sharp edge of one of his fingers to tear open the wrapper, looking up at the Pro as he waits for him to start out with the intent of following in step with him.]

Just patrollin' today, yeah?

[It's that aptitude that Fatgum admires in the young hero. That eagerness to be a hero, the earnestness that reminded him of himself and his peers in their prime.

He takes out a kit kat for himself, delicately unwrapping to break off a piece.]

That's what I like hearing!

[He goes ahead, keeping the pace even enough for the rock hero to keep up.]

There's some vandalism around this part of the city. We're keeping an eye out in case they make the bad choice of trying it again.

Vandalism, huh...

[He's quick to fall into step just behind the Pro hero, not wanting to get too eager and go ahead lest they actually run into something serious. He's not expecting anything serious, but...that's usually when something REALLY bad happens, he's learned.]

Kinda petty for a crime if you ask me. What kinda coward does something like that, anyway? Ruinin' somebody else's property, and for what? Just to show that they can do it and get away with it?

Some people feel the city is their canvas to vent. Some are just kids looking to show off to the world in their own way.

[He keeps in full step with Kirishima, glancing down every now and then to keep tabs on the hero. He's not terribly worried, compared to other villainous activity this is light.]

But any criminal, no matter how petty, is our worry. It's up to the Pros to keep people feeling like they can sleep safe!

Yeah, we'll show 'em they picked the wrong town to mess with!

[Kirishima grins, his jagged teeth showing in sharp relief on his face as he bashes his fists together, cracks briefly rippling up his hands and forearms.]

I ain't gonna let anyone slip by me today.

[Toyomitsu lets out a hearty laugh as Kirishima shows off. He pats Kirishima on the shoulder.]

They'll have one tough hero to contend with!

[But as they continue, Fatgum hears a clatter off a mere couple buildings away. He doesn't look all the less jovial, only more focused.]

Best we have our wits about.

[Ah...even just a simple patrol is never really all that 'simple', is it? That's something Kirishima has learned pretty quickly when working out in the field. Something, even when you think there is nothing, is always happening.

The moment his own ears pick up the noise he's careful to slow his pace just slightly, not enough to stop walking but just to allow Fat to go ahead of him if he feels like he needs to.]

I'm right behind you sensei.

[When you live in a city with a lot quirks, there's always someone trying something.

He's keeping his footsteps soft, bouncy as he tracks the noise. He spies the flash of a shadow right down an alleyway full of boxes and a conspicuous amount of ladders.

Fatgum signals Kirishima to keep quiet as they make their way down.]

[Kirishima nods, slowing down even his breathing to be as soundless as possible. It's easy to think you won't be detected, but not knowing what kind of abilities they're up against means you can't trust any expectation. Even their breathing could be detected, which makes everything they do a gamble. It doesn't help that he's bright colors and Fatgum is a pretty large target in his own right.

But Kirishima trusts Fat. He's been at this for a long time and knows how to deal with Villains. So he'll follow his orders to a T.]

[Every step counts. Light, as to make no sound. He can see the shadow jumping between the walls again. There's another clatter!

This feels serious, this guy seems to be a pro...the noise gets closer. Fatgum tenses his knuckles, feeling himself go on the defensive...

When he hears a light, plaintive mew. Fatgun looks down.]

Oh...a kitten.

[A calico, by its looks. Fatgum laughs, embarrassed.]

Oh...there's a lesson in there...I need to think of it.

[Kirishima keeps his eyes locked on the shadow darting around their immediate surroundings, preemptively hardening his arms just in case...

...but then the kitten reveals itself, and he straightens up a bit.]

S'that all...? Geeze, you had me goin' for a sec there!
