[Mirio's leave of absence from his studies at UA was a considerable blow to not only his self esteem, but to his work ethic as a whole. He was only ever used to doing, and being made to have to stay in the hospital for so long with the express orders to do nothing was nearly impossible for someone like him. But even after being discharged and not yet able to resume normal classes for some time after, it just didn't feel right. Even when he'd spend his mornings running before the sun came up, or training himself vigorously with any sort of exercise he could manage, something was fundamentally off.

It was because part of him was now missing. Like the very rare portion of the population who had to live entirely without them, Mirio Togata was now Quirkless.

Reassimilating with the school environment had been strange, too. Not simply for the fact that he couldn't participate in the same things he once could, but...the fact that word tended to spread very quickly with the news reporting every single aspect of the incident. The fact that he'd lost his Quirk wasn't much of a secret, not that he'd have expected it to remain one. And though Mirio spent much of his life used to the stares and the talking people would do about him, whether it was to mock his struggles in his younger years or to be awed by his acomplishments in the older, this was in an entirely different realm. He could tell just from the first few interactions he had with fellow students that he was being treated differently. Not in an unkind way, but...as if he were something delicate now, fragile now that his power had been stripped away.

Power, stripped away? From him? It was a ridiculous thought, and honestly it wasn't one that Mirio himself actually subscribed to. That was why he kept smiling despite his troubles, because the fact that he was still alive- no, the fact that they saved Eri in the end- was really the most important thing. He lost his mentor, but he knew that Nighteye couldn't have stood seeing Mirio of all people frowning for long.

Enough time had passed to give Mirio a chance to get used to his new schedule, unable to actually continue his internship while his abilities were lacking, to put it lightly. These days, he would attend his general studies classes as normal while insisting on being allowed to attend combat training sessions, prepared to stand toe-to-toe with his fellow classmates despite everything. Sometimes it worked out due to Mirio's sheer strength and cunning, and other times it didn't. But he never stopped smiling, not even as he left the field with a purpling bruise forming around one of his eyes, still laughing about how that guy managed to sneak a punch past him for once. It was funny, almost...]
